UX Deliverables: What will I be making as a UX designer?

UX deliverables are documents created by UX designers to communicate, plan, and visualize the design process. These deliverables serve as a bridge between designers and stakeholders. This ensures everyone is on the same page and contributes to the creation of a user-friendly product or service. User Experience designers have to create various deliverables throughout the design process. This ensures a smooth and effective user experience. Some of the important deliverables are listed below.

Personas

In UX design, “Persona” is like an imaginary user profile. UX designers create these characters to understand the user’s wants and needs. These personas help designers make products that suit real people, ensuring a better user experience. By thinking about what users might want and need. Designers can create more user-friendly and effective designs using personas.

Storyboards

Storyboard is more like a comic strip, but made for UX designers. It helps them outline the user’s actions. It also helps them to understand the environment of the user. Storyboards are like visual roadmaps for designers to create user-friendly and engaging experiences. It indicates why and how a user might use the app.

Customer Journey Maps

It is a diagram. Picture it as a helpful tool to ensure that using an app or website is a smooth and satisfying journey for the customers. Its purpose is to check what a customer may face while operating the app/website. This process makes the designers more related to the users. It helps the designer to solve the user’s problems.

Brainstorming

Picture it as a dynamic teamwork approach where teammates work together to create innovative and effective solutions. In this process, designers research and find probable solutions. At this phase, they generate the idea and proceed to the next step. This process is important and needs attention.

Content Strategy

This process is important for both publication and non-publication-oriented products. This includes planning what type of content and when to organize and publish content. Teams work together to strategically plan when to release content, making sure it targets the right audience.

Sitemaps

Sitemaps are similar to physical maps. It is however used to help navigate a website or app. The layout describes how everything is organized, helping users find their way around easily. It shows how things are organized and where users can go. A sitemap helps users smoothly navigate the vast terrain of a website or app.

User Flows

It is a diagram that shows a simple chart outlined with steps that a user will take. This visual chart guides them through the journey a user takes in a digital product, mapping out each important stop. It helps the designer to evaluate and develop the process and reach the goal.

Wireframes

Simple layout of the app or website.  They provide a basic structure and layout for the app or website. It shows the representation of the app or software without the visual design. While lacking fancy colors or graphics, they act as a crucial guide, allowing designers to focus on the functionality and user experience.

Prototype

Earlier testing version of the app or website. The main purpose of prototypes is to find out the problem and give ideas before the actual development. There are two types of prototypes; high-fidelity prototypes, and low-fidelity prototypes. High-fidelity prototypes are advanced and detailed representations of the final product. Conversely, low-fidelity prototypes are simpler and less detailed.

UX writing

UX Writing, also known as Microcopy, plays a crucial role in designing a user-friendly experience. It involves carefully selecting words displayed on the app or software interface. These words guide users through the journey, ensuring clarity and smooth interaction. Every piece of text visible on the screen contributes to UX writing, impacting how users perceive and engage with the product.

Visual Design

Visual Design is a crucial aspect that forms the surface layer of user interaction. As the first impression is vital, UX designers focus on creating an aesthetically pleasing and engaging interface. This involves selecting impactful colors, fonts, and layouts to enhance user experience.

Design System

A Design System is like a team toolbox, offering guidelines, elements, and tools essential for building websites or apps. It ensures a consistent look and feel, streamlining collaboration among team members. With predefined components and styles, it simplifies development, fosters efficiency, and enhances teamwork.
